The Archangel was based off of the design of the Harbinger class Missile Destroyer. It maintains most of the same characteristics, especially the long flat missile launch decks. The Archangel is significantly larger, though. It carries 100 more missile launchers in the front launch section, and has an extended rear section. This extended rear section was designed to fill a gap that the Harbinger left.

Though Harbingers could produce casings for its store of warheads, but the Archangel has warhead production facilities. It has added to its crew areas as well to accommodate extra missile production and missile transport vessels. This extra section prevents the Archangel from using its cobra bays, so it must house its fighters in internal docking mechanisms.

The Archangel has been designed with four additional high force ion plasma engines. These more than supplement the needs for its higher mass. The Archangel can produce more than enough warheads to supply two Harbinger battle groups.

The Archangel also carries a large contingent of repair starfuries to maintain the battle groups. The Archangels are integral in maintaining roaming battle groups so that they don't have to waste time returning to a Sparta class Mobile Operations Centre to resupply, or waiting for a Sparta to come to them.

Both GED Laser Cannons and GED Enhanced GOD Particle Cannons are housed inside the main hull, behind armoured plates in the front of the Archangel.
